Commercial vehicle rental company, PFB Self Drive Plc, has opened new premises in Nottingham, building on its existing two offices in Birmingham.
![]() The purchase of new commercial premises at 1-2 Castle View, Lilac Grove in Beeston through property consultants Bruton Knowles, will enable them to increase the reach of their customer base to the East Midlands. The 2,625 ft² premises comprises office space, a workshop and a large yard area with plenty of parking space for PFB Self Drive’s 1,500 strong fleet which includes vans, minibuses and recovery vehicles. The office is finished to a high standard and its close proximity to the M1 makes it an ideal site for easy access to a major transport link. Peter Bentley, managing director of PFB comments: “We were already well known in the West Midlands, having been established more than 20 years ago, but were looking to expand the business due to customer demand. Nottingham was the obvious choice as it allows us to reach a wider market and reinforce our strong regional presence. Business is doing so well that we also have plans to open a further two depots in the next 3 years, possibly in the Leeds or Manchester areas.” PFB Self Drive Plc was set up in 1984 and has since grown at a steady rate to become one of the largest independent commercial vehicle rental companies in the south of England. Their fleet includes over 45 types of commercial vehicles and cars, the majority of which are less than 2 years old, and a team of 20 drivers are on hand to deliver vehicles 24 hours a day. James Bailey, Associate at Bruton Knowles in Nottingham appraises the sale: “The site was perfect for PFB’s needs with both office and workshop space and a large, secure parking area. We had to react quickly once it became available as freehold property of this quality in the Nottingham area is in short supply and we were competing with three or four other interested parties. The trading estate is an established location for industrial occupiers and Beeston is a thriving suburban area, so interest was high. We were pleased to complete negotiations quickly and then provide the additional planning advice required by PFB in relation to their proposed change of use for the premises.” Bruton Knowles’ Nottingham office currently has a team of 16 working with private and commercial clients across the East Midlands and nationally, with the team set to expand further in 2006.
