The Nottingham office of property consultants Bruton Knowles has been awarded a two year extension to their contract with electricity distribution company Central Networks in a deal worth an estimated £1.5m.
Bruton Knowles won the original contract with Central Networks back in 1996 and has successfully re tendered for the contract a number of times in the last 10 years. Bruton Knowles undertakes a range of property services for Central Networks including land and property acquisitions and disposals, rent reviews, lease renewals, wayleaves and land access services. A significant part of the contract for Central Networks is the provision of specialist wayleaves and land access work. Bruton Knowles’ team regularly obtain wayleaves for new overland and underground connections to commercial and domestic supplies. The new contract extends Bruton Knowles activities to liaising with the infrastructure services team at Central Networks to arrange access for maintenance and construction work on electricity lines. During the 10 year working relationship with Central Networks, Bruton Knowles has given strategic advice on the disposal of surplus sits for E.ON UK, Central Network’s parent company. Bruton Knowles’ property specialists have also completed many land acquisitions on behalf of Central Networks.
David Weston, associate at Bruton Knowles in Nottingham comments, "The contract has developed and evolved over time and we are seeing a significant increase in wayleave work for Central Networks. This was helped by the acquisition of Aquila Networks, the West Midlands electricity distribution company, in 2003 which has expanded the region covered by Central Networks into the West Midlands. Prior to this, our work had been focused in the East Midlands but now we have been able to expand our geographical reach and we will continue to build upon this over the next two years." Bruton Knowles’ Nottingham office currently has a team of 16 working with private, corporate and commercial clients including Bannertown Developments, Coal Authority and National Grid, across the East Midlands and nationally. The Nottingham team is set to expand further in 2006.
