Rural design PDF Print

The workload of our Design team from rural clients has changed over the years, from new farm building design to the creation of opportunities arising from the conversion of redundant traditional buildings.

Whilst the conversion of traditional buildings requires a lot of input in order to ensure that the older buildings conform to the appropriate standards, the main hurdle is to move the proposal through the planning process.  Due to Government planning guidelines, schemes encouraging employment in the countryside are favoured over residential conversions.  Clearly the latter schemes produce a “quick win” with the Planning Permission giving the redundant buildings marketability without further capital outlay.

We have prepared schemes for commercial conversions that generate good levels of income where it is more desirable to retain the buildings within your ownership.  Feasibility studies on potential developments are carried out to evaluate the options available and the benefits that can be achieved.

The Design team has been engaged in various projects involving the conversion of farm buildings into commercial uses and, in some instances, a new build element has been incorporated creating small business park ventures.
