Development Partner Sought to Redevelop Landmark Church Building

Bruton Knowles has been appointed by Darlington Street Methodist Church to seek a Joint Venture Partner, to redevelop a landmark church building in Wolverhampton City Centre.

The 115-year-old Methodist Church has always been a prominent part of the city centre situated on the corner of Darlington Street. The Trustees of Darlington Street Methodist Church are now offering a unique opportunity to a Joint Partner Organisation to work in partnership with the Church in regenerating their city centre site at Darlington Street, Wolverhampton, which comprises in part of a landmark Grade II listed Church, dating back to 1901.

Developers are being invited to pitch ideas to Bruton Knowles, which has an office based on Church Street in Birmingham city centre. The plans put forward will be centred around how to improve building, to best serve the community. Subject to planning, Bruton Knowles has suggested that the church has the potential for a variety of uses, including retail, dining, and leisure. The Methodist Church is also potentially seeking to retain space in the property, in some capacity, following the redevelopment project.

Matthew Kitson, Associate at Bruton Knowles said: “The aim of the Joint Venture Partnership is to unlock this unique and historic building, introducing new and alternative uses to the site through refurbishment and/or redevelopment. This will ultimately attract new occupiers, ensuring the sustainability of the listed building for the benefit of the City of Wolverhampton. The property provides over 15,000 sq ft of floor space and is an exciting opportunity for investors and developers alike.”

Interested parties are invited to submit Expressions of Interest by 10th July 2019. For more information, please contact Matthew Kitson or Cass Brookes at Bruton Knowles’ Birmingham Office on 0121 200 1100 or visit www.brutonknowles.co.uk.
