In a landmark year for the firm, as it celebrates its 160th anniversary, Bruton Knowles has set itself the target to expand its headcount by 160 across all areas of the business.
Raymond is the first senior hire of 2022 to join the National Valuation Team, which is the second fastest growing division of the business, having expanded its headcount by 30% in the past six months with 12 new recruits.
He joins Bruton Knowles with nearly 30 years of chartered surveying experience in private firms from across the UK. Raymond also brings with him a wealth of expertise in mainstream general practice, and an in-depth knowledge of the market. He specialises in secure lending and complex valuations in different types of commercial property as well as residential conversion and development schemes.
His appointment comes at a decisive time for the firm, which has shown huge resilience following the recent economic shock of the global pandemic. Despite this, Bruton Knowles continues to grow its client base with significant new bid wins.
Raymond is fully accredited with all Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) qualifications and will be covering the South-East region of England. His brief is to deliver a wide range of valuation support and advice across the full commercial and residential property portfolio spectrum.
Commenting on his appointment, Raymond said: “I was about to proactively enter the jobs market to seek a new position, when this fantastic opportunity at Bruton Knowles arose via LinkedIn. It was perfect timing, and the business was just the right fit.
“I’m able to balance home-working with being on the move and am looking forward to using my technical skills to deliver on a broad range of projects. No two days as a valuation surveyor are ever the same.
“All properties have their own complexities, within different geographic and economic markets, all have their own environmental considerations, and different ownership arrangements. The analysis of each is what makes the job interesting, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.”
Bruton Knowles has 10 offices across the UK and employs over 200 staff. The company carried out a restructure in the wake of the first national lockdown and as a response to changing market needs to build up organisational resilience.
This saw the establishment of four National Teams in Utilities and Infrastructure, Building Consultancy, Commercial and Valuation. By re-focusing on these core growth areas, Bruton Knowles has now been instructed by more clients than ever.
As a one-stop-shop, the National Teams provide a point of contact to deliver an entire project to the exacting standards required. The approach has been significant for the business, and there are plans to launch more National Teams in due course.
Bruton Knowles’ latest recruitment campaign aims to expand the workforce in response to growth across the business. The objective is to complement the existing high calibre workforce with new talent from across the sector.
Ian Pitt, Head of Bruton Knowles’ National Valuation Team, said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Raymond to Bruton Knowles as he embarks on the next phase of his career with us. He will be a real asset to the team.
“The continued expansion of our staff base reflects the high demand for valuation services at present. It means we can continue to be responsive to our client needs whilst also achieving our own commercial expectations.”
