Chartered surveyor Bruton Knowles has announced the return of a valued Senior Associate to its National Commercial Team - ten years after departing the firm.
Tony Heming returns as Senior Associate, with significant valuation and landlord and tenant experience. He will use his knowledge to strengthen this area of work within Bruton Knowles and play a role in directing the National Commercial Team.
Tony originally joined Bruton Knowles in 2003, having graduated from the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, then qualifying within the commercial property sector at Lambert Smith Hampton, enabling him to split his time between both the Rural and Commercial Teams. In 2013, Tony left to start his own business, which included acting as an independent consultant for firms across Gloucester and the Southwest.
Tony’s position as an accredited APC assessor within the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for the last 15 years, also provides valuable insight into the development of skills within the industry.
Tony’s return is just one of several senior appointments that Bruton Knowles has made this year. A marker of its planned growth strategy and extensive and extending client base served by a new structure of National Teams.
It is, says Tony, one of the reasons why he decided to return to Bruton Knowles: “The company has continued to grow exponentially from when I first joined. It’s a big firm and attracts big clients as a result, which is what brought me back. I’m looking forward to getting started and going straight into providing clients with the high-quality service they have come to expect from Bruton Knowles.”
Tony will be providing General Practice valuation and landlord and tenant advice, to include lease renewals and rent reviews, together with both standard and non-standard valuation advice. This includes valuations for probate, Charities Act acquisitions and disposals, taxation, company accounts, matrimonial disputes, litigation and expert witness.
As well as being an accredited RICS assessor, Tony is also a Registered Valuer.

Tony is also looking to the future of Bruton Knowles, and how his significant experience can have an impact on the diversification of its workforce: “As an APC assessor within the RICS for the last 15 years, I have always been involved with bringing through the next generation of young people into the sector. It’s important that we continue to look forward, which includes our methods of strengthening the team.
“Historically, most employees would have studied for three years at university, followed by two years at a firm to do their Assessment of Professional Competency (APC). While this is still the case for the majority of staff, there are new, alternative routes into the industry.
“There is now an apprenticeship route, that gives further opportunities, before the completion of the standard two years of APC qualification. A successful team is a diverse team, having young and experienced colleagues working together, to ensure the customer receives the best service we can provide.”
