In reference to the Planning Bill presented in the Queen's Speech this week, David Smart, Chartered Town Planner at Bruton Knowles comments:

“Touted as the biggest shake up of Britain’s planning system in a generation, if approved, a new zonal traffic light system will be introduced, with London and the rest of the UK divided up by local councils into areas designated for growth, protection, or renewal”.

“The proposal to introduce zonal planning appears to remain part of the wider agenda to accelerate planning permissions, however, will have to wait and see whether identified growth areas will see current planning restrictions largely swept away or not”.

Bruton Knowles has 10 offices across the UK and last year, as part of its wider company restructure and expansion programme, the ambitious property firm announced the launch of two new teams, Utilities and Infrastructure and National Valuations.
